【E】[슈가맨 SugarMan] 정용화 "좋아하던 '더네임' 편곡해 영광" 출연 소감 JYH, "An Honor to Arrange The Name's Music"

싱어송라이터로서의 매력을 보여준 정용화(씨앤블루)가 JTBC ‘투유 프로젝트-슈가맨(이하 슈가맨)’ 출연 후 소감을 전했다.

정용화는 12일 방송된 ‘슈가맨’에서 유희열 팀 프로듀서로 출연해 더 네임의 ‘The Name 名字(명자)’를 색다른 스타일로 선보였다. 쇼맨으로 가수 박보람이 출연해 정용화와 완벽한 호흡을 자랑했다.

방송 직후 정용화는 소속사 FNC엔터테인먼트를 통해 “내 노래를 직접 써왔고 편곡도 하지만 예전에 좋아했던 곡을 편곡한다는 건 또 다른 도전 같은 느낌이었다”라며 “그래서 꼭 해보고 싶었다. 최선을 다해서 작업했고 즐거웠다”고 출연 소감을 전했다.

또 슈가송 프로듀싱 방향에 대해 “원곡 인트로의 피아노 라인에 이 곡을 기억하게 하는 힘이 있다고 생각했다. 그래서 1절에 피아노 라인으로 원곡의 감성을 표현하고 그 후에 원곡의 색을 잃지 않은 채 리듬을 바꿔 다른 색을 느낄 수 있도록 편곡했다”라며 “어렸을 때 많이 불렀던 노래를 새롭게 편곡하게 돼 영광이다”고 전했다.

한편 이날 쇼맨 대결에서는 유희열 팀의 ‘The Name’이 유재석 팀의 ‘사랑의 바보’를 제치고 우승을 차지했다.

Upon airing of the episode, Jung remarked, "Though I've been writing my own songs and also arrange music, it was another challenge to arrange an existing song. It was especially the reason that made me want to try. I worked very hard on it, it was a happy experience." 

On the direction of the production, he said, "I think the piano intro has the power to make people remember this song. So I expressed the emotions of the original song in the first verse with piano, then changed the rhythms without losing the color of the original so it would have a different feel to it. It was an honor to arrange the song I sang so many times when I was little."

As for the competition, Team Yoo Heeyeol's "The Name" beat Team Yoo Jaesuk's "Fool of Love," garnering victory for themselves.
