사랑의 라이벌, 신우역을 맡은 정용화씨 첫인상은 어땠나요?
용화는 처음엔 그다지 눈에 띄는 타입은 아니었어요.
대본 연습때 처음 만났는데, 그 당시에는 약간 사투리도 남아있었구요.
리딩할 때 손 떨리는 걸 보고 굉장히 긴장하고 있다는게 느껴지길래 '우선 친해지는게 급선무겠구나'싶었죠.
근데 용화는 휴대폰을 갖고 있질 않아서 연락할 방법이 없는거에요.
다행히도 촬영이 시작되기 전에 출연자들끼리 합숙하면서 함께 술을 마시며 마음 터놓고 얘기할 자리를 마련했고,
촬영중에는 매일처럼 현장에서 만난 덕분인지 금방 친해질 수 있었어요.
처음엔 긴장해선지 현장에서도 잔뜩 주눅이 들어있었는데, 점차 익숙해지니까 자기가 먼저 농담을 건네기도 하더라구요.
용화는 습득하는게 빠르고, 감각도 뛰어나고 센스가 있는 것 같아요.
한국에서 가수로 데뷔한다는 얘길 들었는데,
본인이 갖고 있는 역량을 발휘한다면 분명 성공할 거라고 믿어요.
현장에서는 연기경력이 긴 근석씨가 많이 도와주셨다고 하던데.
가끔 긴장해선지 대사가 씹힐 때에는 제가 어드바이스해주기도 했었죠.
전 처음부터 용화를 믿었고, 큰 기대를 하고 있었기에 둘이서 종종 연기에 대해 얘기 나누곤 했었어요.
How was your first impression of Jung Yong Hwa, your romantic rival?
At first, Yong Hwa wasn't the type that stood out right away.
When I met him for the first time at the reading rehearsal, he still had some accent too.
During the reading, I could sense his hand was shaking. I thought, "I need to get close to him first."
But Yong Hwa didn't have a cell phone, so there was no way to contact him.
Thankfully, before the shooting began the actors were able to live together shortly and I made an occassion for everyone to drink together and talk frankly,
and we met every day at the set, so we became friends very quickly.
At the beginning, perhaps he was nervous, he seemed quite down.
But as he got used to it, he would even start joking around.
Yong Hwa's a fast learner, very keen and sensible.
I heard he's going to debut as a singer in Korea.
I think as long as he shows his potential, he'll definitely succeed.
It seems like you the longest acting career helped him a lot.
Sometimes, if he mumbles words from being nervous, I'd give him advice.
I trusted Yong Hwa from the beginning and expected a lot from him, so we used to often discuss acting together.
