김 평론가는 “1월 샤이니 종현으로 시작해 12월 블락비 지코로 마무리되기까지 참 많고 많은 가수들이 솔로 데뷔를 천명했고, 실행했다. 결과는 절반의 성공. 비록 절반이지만 기존의 1, 2세대 그룹들의 솔로 데뷔가 단순한 세포분열이라는 오해와 대중들의 철저한 외면에 고전했던 것에 비하면 꽤 의미 있는 전진이라 할 수 있다"라고 설명했습니다.

이어 김윤하 평론가는 "새 시대 발라더의 탄생(규현), 개성 있는 싱어송라이터의 발견(종현), 자신만의 확실한 개성 어필(성규), 본진을 압도하는 저력(정용화), 장르 씬의 뜨거운 감자(지코) 등 다양한 측면으로 청자를 자극해온 이들의 활약은 앞으로도 신의 흐름과 상관없이 자아를 확장해가며 꾸준히 성장할 것으로 기대된다. 거대 팬덤이라는 든든한 아군을 등에 업은 이들의 활약 여부에 따라 향후 수년간 메이저 씬의 흐름이 좌지우지 될 지도 모를 일”이라고 말했습니다.

Critic Kim Yunha pointed to "the significant achievement of idol group members' solo debut" as the big issue of the year.

Kim explained, "Starting with Shinee's Jonghyun in January and ending with BlockB's Zico in December, many singers proposed and executed their solo debut. The result was half success. Though it was about half, it was a significant step forward compared to the first and second generation (idol groups') solo debut that had suffered from disregard by the general public, under the pretense that they are simple self-divisions."

She continued, "(We've witnessed) the birth of a new ballad singer (Kyuhyun), the discovery of a unique singer-songwriter (Jonghyun), the appeal of defined character (Sunggyu), the capability to overpower the main group (Jung Yonghwa), and the hot potato of the genre scene (Zico). They have stimulated music listeners in diverse dimensions thus far, and I expect them to take active role in expanding their character and growing steadily, independent of the flow in the scene. With the support of their giant fandom, their accomplishment may influence the direction of the major music scene."
