정용화 나의 20대는 '해적선' 같다
정용화가 만든 노래엔 좋은 에너지가 가득하다. 곡마다 그것들이 표현되는 방식이 달라지는 것뿐, 그의 음악의 본질은 변하지 않는다. 자신이 힘들 때조차도 날 것의 감정을 그대로 드러내는 것이 아니라 “나중에 들었을 때 좋아질 만한 노래가 뭘까”를 생각하는 남자이기에 가능한 일이다. 그렇기에 “세상 사는 게 쉽지 않다”고 느껴도 그가 겪었을 수많은 어려움은 그의 노래에선 쉬이 느낄 수 없다. 솔로 앨범 “어느 멋진 날”로 자신이 하고 싶은 음악을 내어놓은 그와 솔직한 대화를 나눴다. 이야기는 자연스럽게, 물처럼 흘렀다. 종착지가 어디인지, 정해놓지 않은 채.

Songs written by Jung Yonghwa are full of good energy. The essence of his music doesn't change, it's just the way it's expressed that changes for each song. This is possible because he is someone who wonders "What kind of music would be still liked afterwards?" when going through difficult times, instead of revealing that raw emotion as it is. Though he feels "it's not easy to live in this world," it's not quite easy to sense the numerous hardships he has experienced. We had an honest conversation with he who has put out the music he wants to make with the solo album, "One Fine Day". The conversation flowed naturally like water, without precluding its destination.
