올리브 '섬총사'의 박상혁 PD는 30일 OSEN에 "정용화는 출연자들 모두를 받쳐준다. 강호동은 나이가 많은 선배이고, 김희선은 여배우라 어려울 수 있을텐데도 거침이 없다"라며 "형, 누나라고 부르면서 살갑게 대하고 센스도 있다. 강호동의 말투를 잘 캐치해서 잘 따라하고 김희선과는 친남매같은 케미를 보여준다"라고 말했다.
이어 박 PD는 "정용화만의 매력이 있는 것 같다. 다른 누가 해도 이렇게 잘하진 못했을 것 같다"라며 "스케줄이 많은 아이돌이라 그런지 섬에 오면 편하게 즐긴다. 이런 모습을 시청자들도 좋게 봐주시는 것 같다"라고 정용화를 극찬했다.
