I wanted to understand this "scanning fu" more and asked a fan.Turns out it's a lucky draw on the Alipay app. Alipay is giving away 200 million RMB. Anybody collecting 5 "fu" cards is eligible to divide among themselves the 200 million yuan. (Each person got around 200 RMB last year.)
The app has this "fu" recognition device. When one scans anything and the app recognizes it as "fu", one of the following will be given: a red packet (cash credit to one's Alipay), a good fortune wish, or a "fu" card out of 5 ("Jing ye fu" being most difficult to get).
That's the story behind YH's writing the chinese character "fu" and wishing fans to be able to get "Jing ye fu". Many thanks to Nicole Gu who provided the screen caps and explaining things to me. She said she never played the game but she tried last night scanning YH's "fu" and won "Jing ye fu" right away. She called it miraculous. And from what I read on weibo, many fans (and non fans) got "Jing ye fu" with YH's writing. What a lucky star! -
