[삼총사 TTM] 정용화, "아이돌 스타의 모습 탈피... 나를 버렸다" Jung Yonghwa "To Escape the look of an 'Idol Star'...I let go of myself"

씨엔블루 정용화가 드라마 '삼총사' 제작발표회를 가졌다.
12일 서울 강남구 논현동 임피리얼팰리스 호텔에서 진행된 tvN '삼총사'(극본 송재정, 연출 김병수) 기자간담회에 참석한 정용화는 연기에 대한 질문에 "예전에는 아이돌 스타의 이미지를 지켰다면 이번에는 '나를 버리고 이 드라마에 빠져보자'는 생각을 하게 됐다"고 전했다.
이어 그는 "지금까지 멋있는 걸 했으니 이제는 즐겨보자는 생각으로 '삼총사'를 시작했다. 그래서인지 요즘은 촬영장에서 밤을 새고 있는데 해가 지고 촬영이 끝나고, 해가 뜨면 촬영이 시작되는게 그렇게 뿌듯하다"며 "밤샘 촬영도 힘들지 않고 오히려 기대에 부풀어 있다"고 말했다.
이에 송재정 작가는 "정용화가 '삼총사'에서 담당하는 것은 '코미디'다 굉장히 신선하고 재미있는 캐릭터"라며 "원체 정용화가 안하던 역할이라서 청국장처럼 구수한 모습을 보실 수 있을 것"이라고 덧붙여 기대를 자아냈다.
한편 '삼총사'는 조선 인조시대를 배경으로 강원도 무인이자 가난한 집안의 양반 출신으로 한양에 올라와 무과에 도전하는 박달향(정용화)이 자칭 '삼총사'인 소현세자(이진욱)와 그의 호위무사 허승포(양동근), 안민서(정해인)를 만나, 조선과 명청 교체기의 혼란했던 중국을 오가며 펼치는 호쾌한 액션 로맨스 활극로, 8월 17일 밤 9시 첫 방송된다.
이 소식을 접한 네티즌들은 "삼총사 정용화, 더 잘생겨진 것 같아", "삼총사 정용화, 삼총사 진짜 재밌을 것 같은데", "삼총사 정용화, 색다른 모습 기대할게요" 등의 반응을 보였다.

At the media roundtable for tvN 'TTM' held on the 12th, when asked about acting, Jung Yonghwa answered, "Before, whereas I had kept my idol star's image, I let go of myself and became immersed in this drama."
He said, "I began 'TTM' thinking, 'Up until now, I've done dashing roles. Let's have fun.' We've been pulling all-nighters on the set, and perhaps that's why it feels so fulfilling that the filming ends when the sun sets and we begin again when it rises. Filming all night doesn't make me tired, it instead makes my heart flutter."
Writer Song Jaejung encouraged further expectations by mentioning, "Jung Yonghwa is in charge of the 'comedy' in 'TTM'. He's a very new, fun character. It's not something that he's been doing before. You'll see a down-to-earth/folksy side of him." (*she likened his character to cheonggukjang, or fermented bean paste soup, but I thought it's impossible to translate the connotation of that word^^;;)

Maybe the writer doesn't know, YH's been in charge of comedy all this time, not in the dramas themselves but behind the scenes.

Or maybe she does. :) She meant on the roles he's taken so far. But she says when she casts an actor, she stalks them to find all info about them ^^

^^ I know of cheonggukjang, although I have not mustered a courage to taste it yet ^^^^. I find it very hard to connect YH with that image right now, all the more I am looking forward to the transformation! I trust the writer knows YH well enough to tap his potential fully.

For me I never considered him an idol with regard to his talent and passion with music anyways. His facial expressions when he sings passionately translates well to acting. Just needs the right guidance to fulfill whatever kind of vision the script demands. I hope that's the potential that the director and the writer sees in him!
