씨엔블루, 봄의 남자가 되다!

씨엔블루 미니 6집 ’BLUEMING’ 발매

밴드 씨엔블루(정용화 이종현 강민혁 이정신)가 여섯 번째 미니앨범 ‘블루밍(BLUEMING)’을 발매했다.

‘블루밍’은 씨엔블루(CNBLUE)와 꽃이 만개하다는 뜻의 ‘블루밍(Blooming)’을 결합한 단어로, 새롭게 피어나는 씨엔블루의 음악 세계를 의미한다. 앨범 제목에 맞춰 새 앨범은 봄에 어울리는 밝은 분위기의 곡들로 채워졌다. 

타이틀 곡 ‘이렇게 예뻤나’는 화려한 브라스 사운드가 돋보이는 정용화의 자작곡으로 ‘이렇게 예뻤나/ 성격에 두 번 놀라’ ‘늘 살쪘다고 말해도/ Don’t worry about that/ 욕심이 좀 과해 baby’ 등 여자친구에게 직접 말하는듯한 달콤한 가사들로 가득 채워져 설렘을 더한다. 

이외에도 ‘더 시즌즈(THE SEASONS)’ ‘위드아웃 유(WITHOUT YOU)’ 등 이종현과 이정신이 작사ㆍ작곡에 참여한 곡까지 총 다섯 곡을 수록해 씨엔블루 멤버들이 선사하는 달콤하고 경쾌한 템포의 봄의 멜로디를 확인할 수 있다. 

씨엔블루의 이번 컴백은 지난해 정규 2집 ‘투게더(2gether)’로 활동한 이후 약 7개월만이다. 지난해 댄서블한 팝록인 ‘신데렐라’로 끊임없이 진화하는 밴드 사운드를 선보였으며 이번 앨범의 타이틀 곡 ‘이렇게 예뻤나’로 ‘봄의 남자들’로 자리매김 할 것이다.

1. 이렇게 예뻤나(YOU’RE SO FINE) [작사: 정용화 / 작곡: 정용화 / 편곡: 정용화, 고진영, 이상호]

정용화가 작사, 작곡은 물론 편곡까지 참여한 타이틀곡 ‘이렇게 예뻤나(YOU’RE SO FINE)’는 펑키한 비트와 베이스 위에 화려한 브라스가 가미된 경쾌한 템포의 팝록이다. 대화하는 듯한 가사와 짧지만 달콤한 정용화의 내레이션으로 기분 좋은 봄의 멜로디를 완성했다. 계속 봐도 아름다운 여자를 칭찬하는 곡으로 씨엔블루가 선사하는 달콤하고 경쾌한 봄을 느낄 수 있는 곡이다. 

2. THE SEASONS [작사: 이종현, 김재양 / 작곡: 이종현, 김재양, 박현우 / 편곡: 김재양, 박현우] ‘더 시즌즈(THE SEASONS)’은 리드미컬한 기타 선율과 피아노 멜로디로 시작되는 도입부가 인상적인 이종현의 자작곡이다. 연인의 만남과 이별을 사계절에 비유해 표현했으며 셔플 리듬의 어쿠스틱 기타와 심플한 악기 구성으로 봄 분위기에 어울리는 경쾌한 곡이다.

3. YOUNG FOREVER [작사: 정용화 / 작곡: 정용화 / 편곡: 정용화, 박현우]

‘영 포에버(YOUNG FOREVER)’는 정용화의 자작곡으로 곡 전체를 이끄는 스네어 사운드를 중심으로 각 악기들의 리버스 사운드를 더해 몽환적인 분위기를 표현했다. 후반부에 나오는 멤버들의 합창과 함께 브릿팝적인 구성으로 편안하면서도 가슴 따뜻한 음악을 선사한다.

4. WITHOUT YOU [작사: 이정신, 김재양 / 작곡: 이정신, 한승훈 / 편곡: 고진영] 이정신이 작사, 작곡한 ‘위드아웃 유(WITHOUT YOU)’는 아련한 멜로디와 스트링, 피아노의 대선이 조화를 이루는 록 발라드다. ‘I can't go on without you/ 너 없이 난 안돼’ 등 이별의 감정을 담은 가사와 함께 애절한 밴드 사운드를 선사한다.

5. STAY SOBER [작사: 정용화, 이노베이터 / 작곡: 정용화 / 편곡: 김재양, 박현우]

‘스테이 소버(STAY SOBER)’는 정용화가 작사, 작곡한 곡으로 아홉 번째 일본 싱글 ‘화이트(White)’의 수록곡이다. 호소력 짙은 정용화의 보컬로 후렴구를 가득 채웠으며 사랑하는 사람이 자신을 기억해주었으면 하는 애절한 마음이 담긴 곡이다.

Band CNBLUE is set to release their 6th mini album, “Blueming”.

“Blueming” is a compound word made of “CNBLUE” and “blooming,” which signifies the new flowering of CNBLUE’s musical world. To fit the album’s title, the new album is filled with cheerful songs that go well with spring.

The title track “You’re So Fine” is Jung Yonghwa’s composition that boasts fancy brass sounds. Filled with sweet lyrics that sing as if talking to a girlfriend such as “You’re so fine / I’m even more amazed at your personality” “Though you always say you’ve gained weight / Don’t worry about that / You’re a bit too greedy baby,” the song makes one’s heart flutter.

In addition, songs written and composed by Lee Jonghyun and Lee Jungshin, ’The Seasons’ and ‘Without You’, and more make up the 5 tracks in the album that present CNBLUE members’ sweet and upbeat melodies of the spring.

CNBLUE’s promotions come 7 months after their second full album “2gether”. They had showcased endlessly progressing band sound, and with this title track ‘You’re so fine,’ they will establish themselves as the “men of spring.” 

1. You’re so fine [Lyrics: Jung Yonghwa / Music: Jung Yonghwa / Arrange: Jung Yonghwa, Ko Jinyoung, Lee Sangho]

Jung Yonghwa composed, wrote lyrics, and also participated in arrangement of the title track ‘You’re so fine’, is an upbeat pop rock that adds fancy brass on top of funky beats and bass. The lyrics resemble a conversation, added with short and sweet narration by Jung completed into a feel-good melody of spring. Praising a woman who’s beautiful the more he sees her, it makes one feel the sweet, cheerful spring presented by CNBLUE.

2. The Seaons [Lyrics: Lee Jonghyun, Kim Jaeyang / Music: Lee Jonghyun, Kim Jaeyang, Park Hyunwoo / Arrange: Kim Jaeyang, Park Hyunwoo]

“The Seasons” is Lee Jonghyun’s composition, with an impressive intro that begins with rhythmical guitar and piano melodies. The beginning and the ending of romance is likened to the four seasons. With acoustic guitar in shuffle rhythm and simple instrumentals, the upbeat song fits the sentiment of the spring.

3. Young Forever [Lyrics: Jung Yonghwa / Music: Jung Yonghwa / Arrange: Jung Yonghwa, Park Hyunwoo]

Composed by Jung Yonghwa, the song centers around the snare sound that leads the entire track. A dreamy atmosphere is expressed through addition of each instrument’s reversed sounds. The members’ ensemble vocals at the latter part of the song and the arrangement that resembles British pop generates comfortable, heart-warming music.

4. Without you [Lyrics: Lee Jungshin, Kim Jaeyang / Music: Lee Jungshin, Han Seunghun / Arrange: Ko Jinyoung]

Composed and written by Lee Jungshin, Without You is a rock ballad of wistful melody that harmonizes string and piano. The lyrics express the feeling of breakup, “I can’t go on without you / I can’t be without you,” in a heartbroken band sound.

5. Stay sober [Lyrics: Jung Yonghwa, Innovator / Music: Jung Yonghwa / Arrangement: Kim Jaeyang, Park Hyunwoo]

‘Stay Sober’ is composed and written by Jung Yonghwa, one of the tracks in 9th Japan single “White”. The chorus is filled with Jung Yonghwa’s captivating voice. It embodies the desperate heart of someone who wants his loved one to remember him.
