Excite: 처음 이 곡(Blind Love)을 들었을 때 어떤 느낌을 받으셨나요?
용화: 이 곡은 키가 높지 않아서 편하게 부를 수 있었어요. 레코딩 할 때는 상실감을 담아 슬픈 느낌으로 불러보았습니다. 라이브 할 때도 그 느낌을 살려 불러요.

E: "자신의 눈으로 보라"는 메시지는, 세상을 향해 던지는 강한 메시지로도 들리는데요, 여러분도 그렇게 생각하시나요?
용화: 눈으로 보는 건 반대예요! 마음으로 느껴야 한다고 생각합니다 (웃음)
종현: (웃음) 눈과 마음은 같은 거예요. 드러나는 부분이 눈일 뿐이고, 자신의 내면을 보아라, 라는 메시지니까요.
용화: "눈으로 봐라! 느껴라!" 라는 의미인거죠? 잘 알고 있습니다 (웃음)

E: 3번째 곡 "Greedy Man"는 용화씨가 작사, 작곡하셨는데요. 언제 만드신 곡인가요?
용화: 이번 싱글을 만들면서 새로 쓴 곡이예요.

E: 기타 컷팅이 산뜻한데요, 바람이 잘 통하는 느낌입니다.
용화: 처음 떠오른게 바로 그 기타 부분이었어요. 그 프레이즈가 생각나서, 그대로 처음부터 끝까지 만들었습니다. 특별히 화려한 게 아니라 심플하게 써보고 싶었어요. 그래서 처음 데모로 만들었을 때와 편곡을 마친 후의 결과물이 그다지 다르지 않았습니다. 제 경우, 데모와 편곡 후가 큰 차이가 없을 때가 많긴 하지만요.

사운드도 전체적으로 심플하게 하고 싶어서 그런 느낌으로 썼는데요, 가사는 즐거운 사랑 이야기로 적고 싶었어요.

E: 그건 'Blind Love'의 가사가 슬프기 때문이라는 이유도 있나요?
종현: 아뇨, 전혀 아닐 거예요.
용화: 네. 딱히 그런건 신경쓰지 않았어요.
종현: 완성될때까지 (서로의) 가사는 거의 몰라요. 저도 레코딩 할때 돼서야 용화형의 가사를 봤으니까요. 그 전에는 모르거든요.
용화: 레코딩 하루 전까지 가사를 쓰고 있었어요. 곡조 자체가 심플하니까, 즐거운 내용의 가사와 합쳐졌을때 그 묘미가 살아날까, 하는 생각을 하고 있었죠.

E: 각자 개성도 다르고 매력적인 세 곡들이 갖춰졌네요. 이 싱글이 리스너들에게 어떻게 다가가길 바라나요?
용화: 아마도 굉장히 가볍고 편안한 기분으로 들어주시지 않을까 생각합니다. 이전까지의 작품들이 짙은 색깔이었다면, 이번에는 많은 분들이 편한 기분으로 들으실 수 있을 것 같아요. 일단 CNBLUE의 곡을 많이 들어주셨으면 합니다.

E: 2012년 10월 수퍼 아레나에서 달아올랐던 즉흥 코너, 이번에도 예정중이신가요?
종현: 아뇨, 이제 안하지 않을까요 (웃음). 무리예요!
일동: (웃음)
용화: 제가 먼저 시작하면, 정신이도 민혁이도 긴장해요. "나도 시키는거 아냐?"하며 긴장해버려서. 분명히 제가 하는 동안 머리속으로 생각중일겁니다.
정신: 그렇습니다!
민혁: 용화형이 혼자하면 부담이 되니까, 갑자기 이쪽을 향해 오곤 하는데요. 그래서 언제나 용화 형의 말을 잘 듣고 있어요. 즐기고만 있는 건 아니예요!
정신: 눈은 노래하는 사람을 보고 있지만, 머리속으로는 진짜 집중하면서 생각한다니까요 (웃음).
용화: 그래도 기분이 좋으면 할 수 있다고 생각해요. 멜로디는 특별히 생각해서 하는건 아니고, 0.1초 전에 떠오른 말들을 내뱉거든요. "안 하면 안돼"라고 생각해버리면 부담이 되지만, 가벼운 기분으로 하면 할 수 있어요. 천재니까! (웃음)
일동: ....(웃음)
정신: 죄송합니다~! (웃음)

E: 최근 신경쓰이는 것이나, 빠져있는 것에 대해 털어놓는 코너. 이번에는, 최근 쇼핑한 마음에 드는 것에 대해, 씨엔블루 4인에게 들어보았습니다!

"농구화"
흰 바탕에 감색이 들어간 농구화요. 정신이와 함께 샀습니다. 조금 취향이 다르기 때문에 같이 사러 가도 상담은 하지 않고 각자 사고싶은 걸 사는 편이예요. 저는 곧바로 사지 않고 한번 생각하는 타입인데, 이미 예전에 쇼핑을 많이 했기 때문에 한번밖에 입지 않은 것, 신지 않았던 것들도 있어서... 조금 신중해졌습니다. 전에는 쇼핑을 정말 좋아했는데, 지금도 좋아하기는 하지만 그렇게까지 "필요"하다고 생각하지는 않게 되었어요. 사고 싶은 게 딱히 많은 건 아니예요.


Excite: What was your impression when you heard (Blind Love) for the first time?
YH: The keys weren't very high in this song, so it was easy to sing. During the recording, I tried to embody a sense of loss and sorrow in my singing. I recall that feeling when I sing it live as well.

E: The message of "(See it) with your own eyes" also sounds like it's boldly directed toward the world. Do you think the same?
YH: I don't think you should see with your eyes. Instead, you must feel it with your heart (laughs).
JH: (Laughs) Eyes and hearts are the same. It's just that the eyes are on the surface. The message means, "look inside yourself".
YH: It means "See with your eyes! Feel it!", right? I got it. (laughs)

E: The third track "Greedy Man" is written and composed by YH. When did you write it?
YH: I wrote it newly for this single.

E: The guitar cutting sounds refreshing, like the wind is blowing through.
That guitar phrase was the first thing that came to my mind. It popped in my head, so I began to write it and finished it to the end. I wanted to write something that wasn't flashy but simple. So the demo I made first didn't differ much from the end result. In my case, the demo version and post-arrangement don't have much difference most of the time.

I wanted to keep the sound simple too, so I composed it that way, and pair it with a fun love story.

E: Could it be because the lyrics of "Blind Love" is sad?
JH: No, probably not.
YH: He's right, I didn't take that into consideration.
JH: Until we finish, we usually don't know what the other person's lyrics will be. I saw YH hyung's lyrics for the first time when we recorded. I had no idea before that.
YH: I was writing the lyrics until the day before recording. Since the tune is simple, I was wondering whether it would go well once it came together with the fun lyrics.

E: So you have three unique, charming songs. How do you want this single to be listened?
YH: I think it'd be very easy and comfortable listening. If our previous works were a bit heavy, I think many would find this single easy to listen to. In any case, I wish many people would listen to CNBLUE's songs.

E: The impromptu session was such a hit during the October 2012 Super Arena Tour. Are you planning on it again this time?
JH: No, we probably won't (laughs). It's too hard!
All: laugh
YH: When I start it, JS and MH get nervous, thinking "Is he gonna make me do it too?" I'm sure they're thinking hard while I'm singing.
JS: That's correct!
MH: When YH hyung sings it alone, it's a pressure, so he sometimes approaches us. That's why I'm always listening carefully to his words. I'm not just having fun!
JS: My eyes are watching the vocalist, but in my head I'm thinking really hard (laughs).
YH: But if I think it's possible if one feels good. The melody isn't something I think of beforehand and I just blurt out the words that came to my mind 0.1 second ago. If you think, "I have to do it" it becomes a burden, but taking it easy makes it possible. Because (I'm a) genius! (laughs)

JS: I apologize~! (laughs)
E: We'll be looking forward to it! (laughs)

E: This is a section to reveal things they're recently into. We asked CNBLUE about something they bought and liked recently!

"Basketball shoes"
The ones with navy blue over white. I bought it with JS. We have a bit different styles, so even when we go shopping together, we buy things that we like without consulting one another. I'm the type that doesn't buy things right away and thinks it over. I've gone shopping a lot in the past and I have a few articles that I've only worn once...so now I'm more careful. I used to really like shopping. I still like it, but it's not as "necessary" as before. I don't have that many things I'd like to buy.
