【E】 '솔로' 정용화, 美 블루스 거장 피터 말릭과 작업.."영광" 'Solo' JYH works with US Master of Blues, Peter Malick

솔로로 나선 밴드 씨엔블루의 정용화가 미국 블루스 거장 피터 말릭(Peter Malick)과 함께 작업한 것으로 알려져 화제다.

오는 20일 발매되는 정용화의 첫 번째 정규 앨범 ‘어느 멋진 날’에는 YDG, 버벌진트, 윤도현, 중국 톱스타 임준걸(JJ LIN)과 함께 작업한 곡들은 물론 미국 유명 기타리스트인 피터 말릭이 참여한 '27 Years'도 수록된다. 

피터 말릭은 포크와 블루스로 유명한 뱅가드 레이블에서 활약한 기타리스트로 머디 워터스, 빅 마마 쏜튼, 존 리 후커 등 블루스 거장들과 함께 작업하며 세계적인 뮤지션으로 발돋움했다. 특히 그는 팝재즈 가스 노라 존스와 함께 앨범 '뉴욕 시티(New York City)'를 발매하며 화제를 모았다.

정용화는 지난해 5월 미국프로야구 LA 다저스의 류현진 선수를 응원하기 위해 LA를 방문했을 당시 피터 말릭의 작업실을 찾아 음악 등 서로의 공통 관심사에 대해 심도 깊은 대화를 나누며 편안한 분위기 속에서 곡 작업을 마쳤다. 이후 피터 말릭은 “솔로 데뷔를 앞두고 있는 정용화와 함께 작업할 수 있어서 영광이다. 더 많은 케이팝을 만들고 싶다”고 작업 소감을 밝혔다.

이들은 이 후에도 트위터를 통해 지속적으로 관계를 유지해 왔으며 최근 선공개곡 ‘마일리지’가 공개된 이후 피터 말릭이 “YDG와의 콜라보레이션이 마음에 든다”며 글을 남겨 화제를 모으기도 했다.

The news of collaboration between band CNBLUE’s Jung Yonghwa and Peter Malick, an American master of blues, is generating buzz.

In “One Fine Day,” Jung Yonghwa’s first solo full-length album set to be released on Jan 20th, collaborations with YDG, Verbal Jint, Yoon Dohyun, Chinese top star JJ Lin, as well as a well-known American guitarist Peter Malick titled “27 years” will be included.

Peter Malick is a guitarist who flourished at the Vanguard Records and became a world-class musician as he worked with blues greats such as Muddy Waters, Big Mama Thornton, and John Lee Hooker. He especially gathered attention by releasing the album “New York City” with the pop-jazz vocalist Norah Jones.

Jung Yonghwa visited Peter Malick’s studio during his trip to LA for supporting LA Dodgers’ Hyunjin Ryu. Discussing their similar interests in music and other areas, they completed the music production in a comfortable atmosphere. Peter Malick remarked, “It’s an honor to have collaborated with Jung Yonghwa who is set to debut as a solo artist. I wish to make more k-pop in the future.” 

They continued their relationship through twitter, and upon the release of the pre-released track “Mileage,” Malick tweeted, “I love the YDG collaboration.”
