일사불란한 군무 일색의 '아이돌' 틈바구니에서 수줍음과 상기가 교차하던 네 소년은 눈에 들 수밖에 없었다.

청년의 몸은 단단해졌고 목소리는 영글었다.

-TV 드라마 출연과 월드투어 그리고 일본 싱글 발매까지. 안팎으로 두루 활약한 2013년을 마무리한 기분이 어떤지.
정용화: 2013년은 매우 열심히 보낸 한 해로 기억될 것 같아요. 드라마를 통해서도 많은 사랑을 받았고, 특히 연초에 발매한 미니 앨범 [Re:BLUE]로 미국 빌보드 월드 앨범차트 1위에 올라 기쁘네요. 많은 사랑 보내주신 분들에게 감사하고, 2014년에도 큰 사랑 받을 수 있도록 더욱 노력하겠습니다.

-씨엔블루가 생각하는 좋은 공연이란.
용화: 팬들과 교감하는 공연이 가장 즐겁고, 또 좋은 공연이 아닌가 싶어요. 팬의 반응 하나하나가 무대 위에서 다 느껴지거든요. 항상 관객과 호흡하는, 살아 있는 공연을 하고 싶어요.

-최근 베스트 앨범 [Present]를 발매하게 된 계기는.
용화: '레이디'는 제가 만든 곡인데, 발표와 동시에 일본에서도 큰 사랑을 받았죠 (웃음). 들어보면 아시겠지만 아주 신나는 디스코 장르의 노래랍니다. 특히 제 곡을 우리나라 팬들에게 선보인다는 점에서 기쁘고 자랑스러워요. 팬들도 좋아해주시는 것 같아 행복합니다.

-활동 이외의 시간은 어떻게 보내는지.
용화: 활동 외에는 주로 집에 있는 편이에요. 집에서 우리끼리 이야기하고, 곡 작업 하고, 게임하고...소소하게 일상을 보내는 편이에요.

-(타 멤버에게 질문 중) 정용화가 "다양한 활동을 하지만 기본이 음악이다"라고 말한 걸 본 적 있다. 음악과 밴드 활동에 뿌리를 둔다는 의지가 엿보인 것 같다.

-멤버들의 새해 계획도 궁금하다.
용화: 2014년에도 최선을 다하는 씨엔블루가 되겠습니다. 많은 관심과 사랑 부탁드려요!

The (Korean) idiom "full of water" denotes the most flourishing period (of someone). Though a cliche, it's nonetheless an appropriate descriptor for these guys, full of youth and raw liveliness. Among all other "idols" who coordinated perfect dance moves, the four boys with shy, blushing faces could not go unnoticed. The young men's bodies grew firmer, and their voice matured.

-How do you feel now that you're closing a year full of activities, from TV dramas and World Tour to Japanese single release?
Jung Yonghwa: I think the year 2013 will be remembered as a year that I worked hard. I received much love through the drama, and I'm especially happy that the mini album [Re:BLUE], released early in the year, topped the Billboard World Album chart. I thank all those who sent much love, and I will work harder for more in 2014.

-What is a "good performance" to CNBLUE?
YH: I think it's the most enjoyable, and also the best performance when I can communicate with the fans. I can sense each and every reaction of my fans. I always want to have performances that breathe with the audience, performances that are alive.

-Could you tell us about your recent best album, [Present]?
YH: 'Lady' is a song that I wrote, which was loved a lot in Japan when it was released (laughs). You'll know if you listen to it, it's a very upbeat song of disco genre. I'm especially happy and proud that my song is presented to Korean fans. I'm happy that the fans seem to like it as well.

-How do you spend time when you're not promoting?
YH: Other than the promotions, I usually stay at home. We chat together, write songs, play games...I tend to spend each day plainly.

-(In a Q to another member) I've seen that JYH said "Although we do diverse activities, the foundation is music." It seemed to show that you are rooted in music and band activities.

-What are your plans for the new year?
YH: CNBLUE will continue to try our best in 2014. Please send us much support and love!
